Araya (1959)

Whether you’re learning Spanish or just looking for something to watch, Araya is a documentary worth seeing.

Filmed in 1959 by Margot Benacerraf, the documentary shows the life of the salt miners - salineros - at an old natural salt mine on the Araya Peninsula in northeastern Venezuela. Benacerraf went on to found Venezuela’s Cinemateca Nacional in 1966.
