Tonight’s film comes from Catalonia.

Salvador (2006)

Whether you’re learning Catalan or just looking for something to watch, Salvador is worth watching.

The film is about Salvador Puig Antich, an anarchist who was executed in 1974 under the dictatorship of Francisco Franco.

If you’re learning Catalan, the following video is an interview with Catalan singer Joan Isaac. At the start, he performs one of his most well known songs, A Margalida. He made the song two and a half years after the execution, and was close to Salvador’s family at the time. It has since become a hymn against the death penalty :
