Zona Sur

Tonight’s film comes from Bolivia!

Zona Sur (2009)

Whether you’re learning Spanish or just looking for something to watch, Zona Sur is an interesting film.

Aided by an intimate 360° filming technique, each scene focuses on the interactions between a wealthy family and how they view their working class housekeepers. The class structures imposed by the Spanish Conquest of the sixteenth century remain, with the indigenous Aymara housekeepers having to tend to the needs of a white, wealthy family.

Most of the film is in Spanish, but you’ll also hear the indigenous Aymara language.
